Jamie Johnson, MS, LPCC

You can’t go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending.
— C.S. Lewis

We each have our own story and sometimes that story does not unfold in the way that we have imagined for ourselves. At times, it may feel like you are stuck in this never ending chapter and have little control over what will happen next. The idea of telling anyone your story may seem completely overwhelming or you may feel like no one will understand. Oftentimes, we may feel powerless to depression, anxiety, addiction, or trauma, and no longer feel we are the author of our own lives.

Having seen both sides of a counseling office, I know how difficult it can be to ask for help. I have also witnessed personally and professionally how rewarding it is to direct change and experience personal growth. I have always had a passion for helping others, but it wasn’t until I worked on addressing my own emotions and finding solutions to concerns that I realized just how powerful it is to be able to sit with someone going through a challenging time and help them feel heard. For me, it is a truly rewarding experience to have the privilege of helping others overcome obstacles and live the life they deserve.

How I work:

Each individual is unique and there isn’t a “one- size fits all” approach to therapy. I strive to meet each person where they are at in life, and will utilize the strengths you already possess to tailor an approach that fits your specific needs and goals. I place a great deal of value on the therapeutic relationship, as my own journey has taught me the importance of having a safe, non-judgmental space to examine one’s concerns, work to find solutions, and build more meaningful relationships with one’s self and others.

My experience has afforded me the opportunity of working with individuals, groups, and families across a variety of therapeutic settings. I have had the privilege of witnessing individuals conquer past traumas, move through the grief of losing a loved one, learn better ways of communicating in their relationships, and build skills to address depression, anxiety, and substance use. Being a therapist has taught me that while life is full of ups and downs, we often underestimate our own resiliency and ability to make changes. I feel honored to have helped people overcome their self-limiting beliefs and find healing.

I believe that making lasting change happens through addressing the whole person and will work collaboratively with you to support and empower you in reaching your goals. You do not have to continue to feel stuck, if you are ready to turn the page, reach out and let’s chat.

I provide online and in-person counseling in Fair Oaks to individuals (adolescents, teens and adults), families, and couples.
