“It will always be this way.” “I can never change.” “No one cares about me.”

It can be easy to find yourself giving in to negative thoughts like these. The longer the thoughts linger, the more painful they become. You may feel as if you have tried just about everything to stop the ache. Or maybe you’re just too tired to try anything at all.

We have all experienced circumstances in our lives that we are not equipped to deal with on our own. Seeking therapy is one way to provide the support you need to get through difficult times. As a counselor, I am passionate about helping to provide the tools that you need to re-construct your own life. In session I will join with you to understand the causes of your pain, provide practical tools you can use right away, and spend time with you to process and change harmful thought patterns.

Even when it feels hopeless, there ARE ways to help begin the rebuilding and healing process. Stop expecting yourself to be able to dig your way out without the necessary tools. I invite you to join me and begin your healing journey today!

How I work…

Therapy is not one-size fits all, and I work to tailor my sessions to the needs of the person in front of me. Each person has a beautiful individuality that we will strive to discover and encourage to grow through the therapy process. In session, you will be valued as an expert on your own life experiences and will have a large influence on how therapy progresses.

While I believe in using many therapeutic techniques to best fit my clients’ needs, I do often focus on principles from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). CBT focuses on how to change negative thoughts and behaviors by addressing lies we often believe about ourselves and the world around us.

As a former teacher, I also have a passion for working with children and adolescents. I enjoy working with young people to provide them with tools they can use to help with their social and emotional health for the rest of their lives. I love to incorporate many types of play and art therapy into my sessions to make it a fun and beneficial environment for my younger clients.
